The Rhenish Volunteer Award Scheme

Through the Rhenish Volunteer Award Scheme, the Social Service Department encourages our Church members and the general public to fully utilise their leisure time and help people in need by supporting our service units. The Scheme allows our volunteers to experience the meaningful act of helping others.

Introduction

Objectives:

1. Give recognition for our volunteers through recording their service hours and recognising their contributions.

2. Create a culture which engages volunteers in community work and encourages people from all walks of life to participate in our volunteer services.

 Scope of Services:

Handling paperwork, mentoring/coaching, professional support, art and design, activity planning and implementation support

For Elderly Service only - escort service, visits, escort service for medical consultations, household cleaning

For Toddlers/Children Service only - homework tutorial, storytelling, facilitate children song singing

Service Record: there are two types of records ~

1. Record by date - the date when a one-off event held will be recorded.

2. Record by period - period of time throughout an ongoing event, from planning to implementation will be recorded.

How to calculate the number of service hours: the number of hours is calculated on an annual basis.  All volunteer service hours incur from January 1 to December 31 of the year will be counted.

Award: recognition criteria is based on the volunteer’s total service hours.

The Social Service Department organises volunteers recognition ceremony each year and present awards to the volunteers.
